Decent dictionaries deserve dedicated devouring.

The definition of Alliteration in Chambers Dcitionary begins as follows:
"the recurrence of the same initial sound (not necessarily letter) in words in close succession, such as 'the low last edge of the long lone land' (Swinburne); head-rhyme,....

Yikes, that's just alerted me to the fact that when I deleted the acronym tours, I accidentally deleted the tour of alliterations which is linked to from http://acronyms.co.nz/alliterations.html. I'll have to recreate that tour when I get home (assuming I can find where I put the file with the alliterations in... apparently the page was last updated in October 2001 which indicates, at least, that the alliterations were probably not lost with my stolen PowerBook.)

I'll also make sure that the page links to a definition of alliteration, probably http://www.dictionary.com/search?q=alliteration
