Discovery MondaysThe first Monday of each month is Discovery Monday at CERN's Microcosm exhibition. Each time people explain a different aspect of what we do at CERN, with demonstrations etc. It's all in French, but I understand it because at that sort of level I usually already know the physics and computing concepts they're talking about. The fact that many technical words are the same (but pronounced differently) in both languages helps, as does the fact that most of the presenters do not speak French as a first language.
I've been to almost every Discovery Monday since I started working at CERN, after being told about them by a woman known on my travelogue as Canadian Carla. The first few times, I ended up asking for English translations, but now I pretty much understand it all in French. This page has been accessed times since 2024-11-17 00:27:53 Last updated: 0000-00-00 00:00:00
