Why I should listen to Rob

Desolée, cette page n'a pas encore été traduite en français. Voici la version anglaise.
I should listen to Rob more often. Firstly, he was one of the three people to recommend Gödel, Escher, Bach to me before I eventually bought it. I should have listened to him earlier.

He also keeps recommending TextMate, which I have only just started using. It has some nifty features, such as the 'Edit with TextMate' thing in all text fields (though I'd have never found that without Rob pointing it out) but I have found it to be very slow, it can't even keep up with my typing, and pasting a large amount of text into it takes ages. It also messes with the spell checking. But having said that, I've only really used it to edit plain text, it probably kicks arse for code editing. I should try it.

The other thing Rob keeps mentioning is Ruby on Rails. I should probably try it, but here I am writing a fancy new website in PHP. I'm not sure if Ruby on Rails is on my sister's webserver, or if I could convince her to install it.
