This websiteAs a sensible and appropriately lazy programmer, usually I try not to reinvent the wheel. However, traditionally the web has been the one area where I've done my own stuff with blatant disregard for the many better, fully-formed systems out there for wikis, blogs, galleries, and such. This site is no different, although I originally intended to mostly reuse my own code for Apronym categories. However, once I actually started 'working' on it, I was surprised at how little I actually had to do to get it all working the way I wanted it to. I'm sure it would have taken more effort to adapt an established system to my purposes. So, onto the technical details.
This website was created using MySQL and PHP. To edit the data I originally used phpMyAdmin, then CocoaSQL (thanks for inadvertantly making me aware of it at the right time, jmini), and finally YourSQL (thanks for the tip, Rob), with the 'Edit in TextMate' command (at last I listened to Rob about TextMate, too.) I edited the PHP in XCode, although perhaps I should listen to Rob and use TextMate for that too.
It's actually the first time I've done a website which uses a real database... to the chagrin of those who try to attack the Apronyms site by SQL injection. So I guess that means that this site is probably open to such attacks, what with me being a naïve beginner.
