I'll post this here as well as to the email address...

I presume SmartiPants wants acronyms which have to do with the usual meaning of DSL, Digital Subscriber Line. However, I've just looked at http://www.acronymfinder.com/af-query.asp?String=exact&Acronym=DSL&Find=Find to see that there are 24 'real' expansions of DSL, so together we can think of alternate expansions to suit all of them. I've only come up with alternate expansions for four of them so far:

These ones suit both Digital Subscriber Line and  Direct Satellite Link:

Darned Speedy Link!
Download Something Large

And to go with Deep Submergence Laboratory:

Defying Sea-Level

As for Disability Sick Leave:

Don't Say 'Lame'!

It would be a big help if people who would like acronyms created would give some background to their request.

Americans probably see DSL as: Dumb, Stupid Limey!
Ancient Greeks probably saw it as: Don't Speak Latin
1950s Private Eyes probably saw it as: Dangerously Shady Ladies
The Highway Patrol probably see it as: Drivers' Speed Limit

... I could go on.

I have a book which gives it as "District Scout Leader" and "Deep Scattering Layer" (apparetly an oceanographic term) These could be converted to
Domineer Suburban Lads
and
Detritus-filled Seabed Level

Don't Stop, Literator!

(There are so many other 'Don't Stop' possibilities... Don't Stop Laughing, Don't Stop Loving, in fact Don't Stop Living could even be an advertising slogan for Digital Subscriber Line)

I, too, would appreciate some background on this task. Why does SmartiPants want all these acronyms? What subject should they be on? We could easily churn out hundreds of DSLs on all Different Subjects... Limitless!

Devil's Sometimes Lucifer
Don't Saute Lychees
Donate Salubrious Livers
Dead Shall Lie
Dead = Stopped Living
Danger - Stabbing Likely!
Daffodils Smell Lovely
Darkness = Sans Light
Dear Sir, <Letter>

Another on the most common meaning of DSL:

Dialup's So Lame!

I am appalled at Edwin, he should know better! You must use capital letters for the words of an expansion

CAPITAL LETTERS PLEASE
Could All Participants Integrate Their Acronym Lettering. Let's Explain That This Eases Reading. Some People Leave Expansions Abyssmally Sloppily Executed!

DSL - down-sized lettering :-p

Don't Start Lowercasing

nevertheless, we should BE NICE TO EDWIN, HE MADE THE FORUMS.

Berating Edwin's Not-In-Capitals Expansions? That's One Etiquette 'Don't'. We Implicitly Need His Expertise, Making A Dynamic Epistle-Trader. However, Expansions in Future Ought Really Use Maxi-Sizing.

Okay, so the end of that is awful... you're welcome to do it better.

Or perhaps, to be more specific than 'Right Acronymically', somthing with Oughtabe Rightly Uppercased (and then M and S words)

Ooh, Majuscule... that's the perfect word! I like this version best, but I'll put in Jeff's as well as a modification of it.

:-) Would you expect ME to use anything less than the perfect word?

Master Expander! :-)

- this expansion is not to go any further, not to the stack, nor to the weeklyish bulletin, nor anywhere!

Awww... are you afraid people will label you Mr. Ego? (Hmm, actually My Ego would almost be a stackworthy definition of ME)

If ME = My Ego, Then I = Id & YOU = You're Obviously Unreal
