La PommeTelling myself that I'd understand my Mac in any language, one of the first things I did, after learning the very basics of French grammar, was to switch my Mac to French. In general I know what all the menus and buttons are, it doesn't matter if they're called something different. I'd switch it back occasionally if there was something I didn't understand, or to learn a new application.
It's a great way to learn all the technical terms, simply by osmosis. So often I see questions on link: 10|WordReference] about computer terms which could so easily be answered by doing this. I have a friend who is originally from Switzerland but who moved to New Zealand when he was a preschooler, and although he speaks French fluently about all the everyday things, he has to switch to English when talking about computers. For me it's the opposite, I can talk about computers, physics, maths... but ask me a mundane question about life, the universe, or anything, and I'll have trouble answering.
I did the same with the Linux machine I use at work, but I've never figured out how to change the language on Windows. If you know how, please tell me... I still have to use Windows occasionally at work.
